چکیده

Nowadays, the security of P2P networks is alarming ascribing to worms which propagate by exploiting common vulnerabilities in P2P software. Taking account of the topology of P2P networks and the behavior of worms, this paper models the propagation of active worms in unstructured P2P networks. Simulations indicate that propagation of worms in P2P networks is much faster than that in un-P2P networks. This paper highlights the analysis of the impact of worm propagation brought by attack and defense strategy changes from the angle of network topology. Finally we put forward a suggestion of worm defense in P2P networks.

Modeling and Analysis of the Proactive Worm in Unstructured Peer-to-Peer Network

With the popularity of P2P (Peer-to-Peer) network applications, active P2P worms become one of the most important newly threat of the network security. In this paper, the propagation process of active P2P worms are studied by a dynamic model over the overlay topology which modeled as a power-law undirected graph. Firstly, GLP power law generator is used to generate power law topologies to repre...

Analyzing Impacts of Peer-to-Peer Systems on Propagation of Active Worm Attacks

Recent active worm propagation events show that active worms can spread in an automated fashion and flood the Internet in a very short period of time. Due to the recent surge of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems with large numbers of users, P2P systems can be a potential vehicle for the active worm attacker to achieve fast worm propagation in the Internet. In this paper, we address the issue by studyi...

Topology Aware Worm Propagation in BitTorrent : Modeling and Analysis

Peer-to-peer (p2p) networking technology has gained popularity as an efficient mechanism for users to obtain free services without the need for centralized servers. Protecting these networks from intruders and attackers is a real challenge. One of the constant threats on P2P networks is the propagation of active worms. Recent events show that active worms can spread automatically and flood the ...

Modelling and Analyzing Passive Worms over Unstructured Peer-to-Peer Networks

Passive worm have posed serious security threats to the functioning of unstructured P2P networks. A delayed SEIRS epidemic model with death, off line and online rate is constructed based on the actual situation of P2P users. The basic reproduction number that governs whether a passive worm is extinct or not is obtained. In this model, time delay consists of latent and temporary immunity periods...
